Did I say things might be slowing down….silly me! Shortly after that statement, received a telephone call from Vet Nurse Lucy in Yeldham who had picked up an injured Tawny Owl from the roadside at Maplestead. As it was so late, agreed that she would keep it in a cage overnight and bring it over to me in the morning. Beautiful bird, whom I believe is a female, she has had a blow to her face with blood in the mouth and on the beak – everything else seems fine. Took her to see my Vet, Robert Lees at Linkswood Veterinary Centre today and started her on a course of antibiotics. She is eating well and swallowing easily so that is a good sign and, hopefully, once her treatment is complete, she can get back to feeding herself and building up those flight muscles prior to going back into the wild…
