Update on Kestrel Aldham…
The sun was shining on a very Autumnal Sunday so the perfect opportunity to release Kestrel Aldham back to her territory. As you may recall, she was spotted by my good friend Diana and son Adam in Aldham, sitting by the side of the road in real danger of being run over. They turned around and went back and picked her up in a towel and brought her over to me. Luckily Diana has handled owls and birds of prey for me when she has been feeding them so knew exactly what to do. Aldham’s left leg was a little weak, so she may well have been clipped by a car, but this soon improved with plenty of exercise in the Aviary. As Jordan’s Farm is literally two minutes away from where she was found, and is certainly a lot safer than putting her anywhere near the road, this was the perfect spot for her release. Diana, Adam and Jerry all attended for this momentous moment together with Toby and Alex at Jordan’s Farm so the event was very well recorded. She very happily sat in Diana’s hand for some considerable time before a nudge from me sent her flying off towards the trees, where she landed and got her bearings. (Video on Facebook pages).
