A day out in the Aviary for the two Tawny Owlets after the excitement of being TV stars yesterday…
After all the excitement of being filmed by ITV’s Anglia News yesterday, to brighten their day, I took the two Tawny Owlets out to the Aviary for the first time. Peaky Blinder, the Tawny Owl rescued from the Train Wagon, is already in there, so they had company, and they can obviously learn quite a lot from him as they go on. Initially they cuddled into a corner with Rayne adopting his usual position of hiding underneath Cockfield, but then the older owlet, Cockfield, went exploring and found his way onto one of the perches. Once I put an access trunk in for him, Rayne soon followed and was happy to hide away in the ivy. Another treat for them was the arrival of my good friend Diana who came for a refresher course on feeding the little ones so I can go out fundraising tomorrow. It must be a good eight months since she last fed owlets so it was good to refresh the memory. Everyone coped and tucked in well – even Diana who was rewarded with a piece of Sicilian Lemon cake for all her efforts. I can leave tomorrow knowing they are in good hands and will be fed tomorrow afternoon. Thanks Diana from all of us!
